First Beijing trip report: cash, QR menus, and hotel registration

I brought 1000 CNY cash and used less than 150 CNY in a week. The places that needed help were QR menu restaurants and one hutong cafe with weak mobile signal.

Hotel registration was painless. The front desk photographed my passport and asked for a local contact number, but accepted my foreign number after I explained I was using roaming.
